The Skeleton Twins

The Skeleton Twins, starring Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader, comes out this weekend and is premiering tonight at the Hollywood ArcLight. There’s a cool costume display at the theater, including some art I created as gifts for a private screening at Pixar earlier this year. It’s a fantastic film, and I’m so thrilled for my wife Jenny Lee, who edited and produced it. GO SEE IT!image

Happy Batman Day!

Here are a couple sketches from the aborted “Bat-Man” project with Azzarello.  Initially conceived as a First Wave title, I wanted Robin to be the son of Wu Cheng from the Blackhawks — fuck you, Chop Chop — sent to be raised in the US by Bruce Wayne. Get some pulp in that juice.

Somehow, I have 4 different variant covers out this month!

HeroesCon 2014 sketch list

HeroesCon is almost here!

I love comic conventions and getting the chance to talk to fans and hopefully draw a few sketches, too. In the past I’ve operated on a first-come/first-served basis for my sketch list, but it seemed to penalize those who weren’t attending on the first day. So here’s an attempt to make it a little more fair. Go here for more details:

Fingers crossed this works, and see you in Charlotte!

A few sketches from Asbury Park Comic-Con 2014. Most of these are drawn on blank variant covers.

Batman Black & White #6

Batman Black & White #6 is out today, with stories by me, Adam Hughes, Dave Johnson, Olly Moss and Becky Cloonan, and Dave Taylor. I’m thrilled to be in such talented company, especially for my first published writing.

I hadn’t expected to write a Robin story, but it grew out of my own recent adventures into fatherhood and speculating how ill-equipped Bruce Wayne might be as a parent. So this one’s for my boy, and for my dad, who never got to see me chase down this crazy dream of making comics.

New York Comic Con 2013

NYCC is here again! I’ll be in Artists Alley, table H10, with comics, prints, and postcards, and while I won’t be taking on any commissioned sketches, I’d be happy to sign books and chat. I’ll also be signing with my friends at Epic Proportions (booth #2010) and the Brooklyn Brewery (booth #429). Brooklyn Brewery and NYCC have produced a limited edition screenprint for sale (along with t-shirts and pint glasses) and all proceeds from the prints will go to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I’ve also donated the “Defend Beer” artwork to the charity auction as well. Here’s my schedule:

DCE signing (Artists Alley table EE1): 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Brooklyn Brewery (Booth #429): 12pm – 1pm
Epic Props (Booth #2010): 2pm – 3pm

Panel - DC Comics:The New 52 (Room 1E): 5:15pm – 6:15pm

Brooklyn Brewery (Booth #429): 12pm – 1pm

Here’s a sneak peek at “MARS TO STAY!” by me and Brett Lewis (@Wintermen) in Vertigo’s Witching Hour anthology, in stores 10/2. Art and colors by me.

Happy Valentine’s day!
